Spears Misses Kids, Reunites With Mom

A day after Britney Spears reportedly missed out on her first visit with her sons since losing custody of them to ex-husband Kevin Federline , the singer's mother stopped by to try and offer some guidance.

On the morning of Oct. 4, Spears and her cousin Alli Sims sat waiting at Spears' Mailbu home for the pop star's sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, to be dropped off.

"But she waited, and waited, and they didn’t show up. Alli’s cellphone rang, and it was Kevin [Federline’s] people, saying that the boys were going back to Kevin because she hadn’t answered the intercom at the gate!," an insider told Life & Style Weekly.

Apparently, Spears was unaware the intercom was broken.

The next day, Spears' estranged mother Lynne Spears and her sister Jamie Lynn hopped a plane from Louisiana to Los Angeles because "Brit really needed her mom," a source told PEOPLE.

Other reports of Lynne Spears's visit say she headed to Los Angeles to "stage an intervention," reports OK! The story alleges that Federline took part in the proceedings, as well.

A subsequent report from the online tabloid claims that Spears fled her home after several hours of talk with her family. She is said to have sped off in her car, making brief stops at the Viceroy Hotel and the Ivy at the Shore restaurant before heading back home.

Sightings of Spears at Taco Bell on Saturday with her sister suggest that PEOPLE's story is likely more accurate. Photographers caught the sisters their after Spears reportedly finally got to see her kids.
